In his weekly video address Obama summarizes his past week–the trade deals he made with China’s President Hu and his visit to GE in New York. He talks about how the US needs to increase our competetive advantage and create jobs here in the US. Our latest video explains these same concepts through simple animation.
In-Brief Videos is all for using Expo markers to make a point. But, VW took that concept into power drive by putting markers in the hands of children (and the public) and letting them express themselves on a new VW bug at a recent DC area event at the Kennedy Center. There wasn’t much room to write when we got there but it got me thinking, what other (simple) medium could we use to make a point? Any ideas?
Maria Munos missed her horses during her overwhelmingly stressful cancer treatment. Ion Cion, and his organization Artists in Hospitals, help children like her to find a way to cope with illness through art. Instead of worrying about her next radiation treatment, she drafted elaborate designs and eventually painted them right onto one of her live horses. The “Dream Horse Project” took Maria’s focus off of being a “patient” and on to being an “artist”. Project organizers and associated hospitals believe this program improves patient outcomes.
We produce 1-3 minute videos on any topic. We begin the process by investigating our topics, analyzing research from credible sources and speaking with industry experts and those close to the subject. These steps ensure that our content and final presentation are authentic, and useful. We write one or two person narratives. The choice in delivery depends on the target audience and intended learning outcomes.
Storytelling provides context for complex topics. We use an instructional systems design approach when creating In-Brief Videos. This involves understanding our audience and key learning objectives to maximize the impact of the video.
The simplicity of our tools: paper cut-outs, a white board, dry erase markers, and our hands, combined with a stop animation video process, makes videos accessible and engaging to people of all ages.
